Accessibility Statement
1. Introduction
Top End Advisor is committed to making our website accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and continually improve our site’s accessibility.
2. Measures to Support Accessibility
To ensure ongoing accessibility, we:
-
Integrate accessibility criteria into our procurement and vendor selection.
-
Provide regular accessibility training for our team.
-
Assign clear ownership for accessibility goals and remediation tasks.
-
Use formal quality-assurance processes (e.g. accessibility audits and automated testing).
3. Conformance Status
We have conducted an internal review and can confirm that Top End Advisor is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Some areas of the site do not yet meet all criteria.
4. Accessibility Limitations
While we strive for full compliance, the following known limitations remain:
-
Link labels: A small number of links use non-descriptive text (e.g. “More”, “Submit”). We are updating these to be more specific.
-
Image alternatives: Some legacy graphics contain embedded text without live-text alternatives. We are replacing these with HTML text or detailed alt attributes.
-
Color usage: A few components rely on color alone to convey meaning. We’re adding icons or patterns and ensuring contrast ratios meet WCAG requirements.
5. Compatibility with User Environments
Top End Advisor relies on standard web technologies and works best with up-to-date browsers and assistive tools:
-
Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest two versions)
-
Technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
-
Assistive tools: Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS), keyboard navigation, browser zoom up to 200%
6. Known Incompatibilities
Older browsers (pre-2015) may not fully support our responsive layouts or ARIA attributes.
Some dynamic menus may not behave optimally in very old screen readers. We provide alternative navigation links in the footer.
7. Assessment Approach
This statement was developed via self-assessment, using a combination of:
-
Automated scans (e.g. Lighthouse, axe)
-
Manual keyboard and screen-reader testing
-
Review against WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria
We plan to commission an external audit annually.
8. Feedback
We welcome feedback on how to improve accessibility. If you encounter any barriers, please let us know:
